Cas Carter leaving Tourism NZ for role at Massey University

8/03/10

Tourism New Zealand’s long-standing general manager of corporate communications, Cas Carter, is leaving the organisation to take up a new role as assistant vice chancellor, external relations at Massey University, based in Wellington.

Well-known to many in the industry, Cas celebrated 10 years with Tourism New Zealand last November and has had a pivotal role on Tourism New Zealand's executive team and as leader of the organisation’s communications strategy.

As Tourism New Zealand’s first corporate communications manager she put in place an overarching communications strategy and oversaw the development of its first corporate communications plan, intranet and corporate website, as well as ensuring the industry was kept up to date with regular executive roadshows and news bulletins.

She is currently in charge of Tourism New Zealand’s RWC2011 work.

Before joining Tourism New Zealand, Cas worked as a newspaper and radio journalist, she then worked with Totally Wellington (now Positively Wellington Tourism) followed by a stint in Parliament as a Tourism Private Secretary before moving to a PR company and then on to Tourism New Zealand.

Cas leaves Tourism New Zealand at the end of March and take up her new role after Easter.
